Still one of my favourite (and biggest) illustration projects to date: I was commissioned by Lucy Elphinstone, then Headmistress of Francis Holland School, Sloane Square, to create seven illustrations, each capturing the essence of one of the school's (then) core teaching principles, inspired by Guy Claxton and Bill Lucas's book Educating Ruby. My research spanned history, politics, the arts, literature, science, outer space and beyond, seeking real people and moments that embody the 7 Cs: Confidence, Curiosity, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, Commitment and Craftsmanship. The illustrations were hung – printed, mounted and framed – in the school's Sixth Form Centre for Creative Enterprise.
